Baby M Gender Reveal

This afternoon we had a mini Gender Reveal with our families after church. We went to my parents' house for lunch to celebrate and share the news.

It's a BOY!

Alan and I found out the Wednesday before last and we really couldn't be more excited! Snakes and snails and puppy dog tails, I see a lot of rough-housing, trucks, and ball-games in our future!

Even though Maggie was "team pink" she came prepared and knows the way to my husband's heart... football. I can guarantee you there will be plenty of that!

17 Weeks

How Far Along? 17 weeks
Trimester? 2nd
Size of the Little One? onion

Maternity Clothes? a few. I'm still wearing most of my own clothes but maternity pants sure are comfortable!

Weight Gain? 9lbs

Sleep? ok, still getting up about twice a night 
Cravings? water! i have been so thirsty! still loving fruit: strawberries, grapes, and kiwi.
What I Miss? feeling comfortable in my own skin, this is the awkward phase of pregnancy where I feel like I don't quite look pregnant yet...
Symptoms? waking up at night, tired, and thirsty
Best Moment? getting a sneak peek by our sweet ultrasound tech, she is the best!

15 Weeks

Maternity Clothes? not yet, did begin wearing a belly band with some of my pants

Name? we got 2 name books which we are starting to go through
Sleep? better since I began sleeping with a Snoogle (maternity pillow)!
Cravings? fruit and Mexican food
What I Miss? sleeping through the night
Symptoms? waking up once or twice a night to use the restroom
Best Moment? sweet friends that are already giving me advice, so thankful for them!

13 Weeks

OK I'm going to try to be good about giving some updates throughout my pregnancy...

Name? have just started talking about a few
Sleep? ok, not great. wake up often to go to the restroom.
Cravings? not so much cravings as aversions: cannot even think about trail mix, yuk!
What I Miss? my jeans fitting comfortably
Symptoms? nausea in the morning when I was taking my prenatal in the AM, have started taking it at night and that has helped tremendously
Best Moment? beginning to tell our friends we're expecting!

Tickled pink...or maybe blue!

Alan and I joyfully announced our pregnancy to our families on Christmas Day and have begun to share the exciting news! We had been praying about starting a family for a while and were trusting in God's perfect timing. Baby M is due this summer and we could not be more thankful. When we found out ourselves on November 15th we were so excited, humbled, anxious, all at the same time. We are thrilled about being parents and especially grateful for wonderful parents ourselves who have been role-models to us throughout our lives. God is so good!

Ringing in 2014!

Alan and I had a wonderful time ringing in the New Year with sweet friends! J+P hosted a great party as usual and we had some good laughs over fun games as we waited for the ball to drop. So excited to see what this year has in store... 2014 is going to be a good one!

Holiday Wrap Up!

The holiday season seemed to go by in a blur this year! We were so busy! We began December with a weekend trip to Memphis to see Nonnie: it has been way too long since we were there! It was so wonderful spending time with family and catching up with everyone there.

That weekend Alan had planned to run in the St. Jude Marathon but it was cancelled (1st time in 12 years!) due to an ice storm that came through when we were there. So... Alan received a pass to run in the Country Music Marathon (which is also sponsored by St. Jude) next spring. 

My family actually celebrated Christmas a little bit early this year (the day after Thanksgiving) when my brother Colin was here. It was so special to have everyone together which can be quite the challenge with so many of us! 

Christmas Day we went to my parents' house in the morning and Alan's parents' house in the afternoon. No matter how old you get, there is something special about Christmas.

Christmas was particularly special this year because of a little announcement we made: we are going to be parents! Alan and I are expecting! We are overjoyed and feel so incredibly blessed. A new adventure is about to begin and we can't wait!
